This is a great time of year to get creative when it comes to wishing your nearest and dearest some festive cheer and creative agencies and individuals often also use it a chance to show off their talents or simply to have a bit of fun all in the name of ~~Christmas~~ self-promotion.

We’ve picked a few of our faves below:

Everyone loves a quiz around Christmas time don’t they? We’ve done our best to keep it short, sweet and reasonably topical…
Adland Santa (Pirata)
Slightly faffy with the iPhone app being required to register but a clever way of bringing the agency community together.
How many ways can you give away a fiver? (Inferno)
‘Good Will’ finds ingenious ways to give away five pounds – a passive but entertaining experience with a nice charity call to action at the end.
Deck the screens (Deeplocal)
We struggled to find a 5th but this just looked like pure, simple fun that could quite easily plug a few gaps in-between doing not very much at this time of year.

Everyone’s favourite topic at the Key Trends seminar at last months’ Online Marketing Show was of course mobile.

Fairly obvious but then again trends should be fairly obvious in order for them to become trends I suppose.

The main point about this particular trend seemed to be that there is still huge untapped potential with mobile and that even though millions are being made in app sales; most businesses still aren’t fully exploiting the benefits of the platform.

Some interesting points were made about penetration and demographics of mobile users – iPhones apparently have an older, predominantly male user base where as android which has a far greater share of the market has a younger user base with greater equality between male and female users.

M-Commerce is big and going to get much bigger and is changing user behaviour – an example cited was that of a shopper who will browse the shelves of shop whilst simultaneously comparing the cost of a particular product across several sellers on their phone.

The idea of a physical shop becoming a showroom for users to look at, touch, feel, try a particular product with the purchase taking place elsewhere via the cheapest online vendor is a powerful one and something which I can certainly see becoming more and more prevalent as smartphones become commonplace.
